"Vechernaya Moskva": Fully Armed Grymov Was Arrested
He Was Taken For Terrorist in Egypt

"Is it true that Yuri Grymov was arrested by Egyptian border guards for smuggling big amount of arms? My God, what is going on? Isn't he satisfied with his glory in cinematography? Vladimir KULBAK, permanent "Vecherka" reader, SEAD"

We would like to calm you down, Vladimir, rumors that the famous Russian film director was arrested at the Egyptian airport were rather confirmed. Customs in Cairo really hold the Russian Director who came to Egypt to shoot his new movie. The fact was that while customs examination of the director's luggage there were some subjects found that were forbidden to be brought to the country. According to the protocol, instead of such usual for people going to resort things as swimming trunks, flippers and pulp fiction, there were two Kalashnikovs, army Finnish knife, machine-gun shells and even infantry mines.

That is quite understandable that the customers were very much discouraged by such odd "set for person on vacation" though they had a great experience in communication with Russian tourists. The movie director was arrested right there and the weapon consignment was confiscated and sent to examination.

The investigation that had been started could throw light on that uneasy situation.

As Elizaveta Davidova, Yuri Grimov press-attach? informed all weapons were just properties for shooting a new movie called "Strangers" in fact. In that project American, Russian and Arab actors are participating. The subject of the film is as follows: five doctors were sent with a noble, at first sight, mission - to make examination and vaccination of children. But the fate has prepared such trails for those doctors that they had to risk not only their career but their lives.

Not an easy test was prepared for the movie maker Yuri Grymov as well. To clear the situation and to free Grymov it took several days. The director was dismissed from the imprisonment only after the Russian counsel was involved. He answered for peaceful expectancies of fully armed Grymov. The luggage was returned to Yuri Grymov and he could start the shooting.
